Nuclear spectroscopy ofNd145

Abstract
The nuclear spectroscopy of Nd145 has been studied by means of γ-ray and charged-particle spectroscopy. Information on Nd145 levels was obtained via the decay of Pr145 and the Nd144(n, γ) reaction with thermal neutrons. From the γ-ray spectroscopy ≈ 20 energy levels were assigned to Nd145, and 43 γ rays could be placed in the decay scheme. The charged-particle spectroscopy of Nd145 consisted of the Nd144(d, p) reaction at Ed=33.3 MeV, the Nd144(α, He3) reaction at Eα=66.2 MeV, and the Nd146(p, d) reaction at Ep=31 MeV. Differential cross sections for the charged particle reactions were measured over the range of ∼7° to ∼37° lab for ≈ 40 excited states. These angular distributions are compared with distorted-wave Born approximation calculations to extract l values and spectroscopic factors.
