Abstract
Psychoanalytic and linguistic theoretical models are integrated to form a combined method for investigating sound films of human behavior microscopically. This combined method is described and then illustrated with microscopic film data about a familiar recurrent behavior pattern—a fistlike movement. The data throws light upon the mechanism by which, as Freud says, “… the Unconscious of one human being can react upon that of another, without passing through the consciousness” (10, p. 194).Keywords
