Abstract
Acute pulmonary embolism may occur rapidly and unpredictably and may be difficult to diagnose. Treatment can reduce mortality, and appropriate primary prophylaxis is usually effective. This review focuses on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of acute pulmonary embolism of thrombotic origin.Keywords
