Abstract
This article considers psychological aspects of chronic pain, including pain that is purely physical in origin. The concept of the "pain lifestyle" is discussed, as well as the relationship between pain and vocational problems, marital problems, sexual difficulties, depression, anger, and the "pain-prone" personality. The article also describes the utility of behavioral treatment programs for treating chronic pain.J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 1979;1(2):76-82.Keywords
