On the theory of VLF propagation for a step model of the nonuniform earth–ionosphere wave guide

Abstract
Reflections in a curved model of the earth–ionosphere are considered for the case where the reflecting height is discontinuous. Explicit formulas are given for calculating the conversion coefficients for an incident mode of order m, a reflected mode of order n, and a transmitted mode of order q. It is shown that the usual neglect of reflected modes has some justification.
