Abstract
Logperch in the new reservoir exhibited a preference for aquatic insects and an exclusion of microcrus-tacea. Brook silversides in the new reservoir typically ingested both foods, in addition to terrestrial spiders, but did not utilize a large population of planktonic Chaoborus. In the older reservoir, the logperch consumed a mixed diet of benthic Crustacea and aquatic insects, while the brook silverside was almost solely dependent on insects during the summer. Preferences were modified by availability, illustrating the feeding flexibility retained by these specialized species. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
