Abstract
Because the impact of institutionalization of elderly persons on family relationships has been previously observed, a study of the relationship between selected facility policies and family relationships was undertaken. Data secured from residents and their families in a rural area revealed that there can be positive consequences for family relations. The study concluded that care policies viewing family members as clients, not solely as “servents,” will have the greatest positive impact on family relations. Keywords
