Glucagon Treatment of Insulin Reactions

Abstract
PREVIOUS studies have shown that glucagon is capable of counteracting the hypoglycemic effect of insulin in normal man,1 in psychotic patients undergoing insulin-coma therapy2 and in diabetic patients.3 In this paper evidence is presented that glucagon is an effective agent for the treatment of insulin reactions in diabetic patients.Experimental DataPatientsEighteen hospitalized male diabetic patients, thirty to sixty-nine years of age, were studied. The known duration of the diabetes in the group ranged from one to twenty-five years. All patients required insulin; the daily requirement ranged from 12 to 150 units. All had a history of previous insulin . . .
