Abstract
THE present report is prompted by the absence in the medical literature of reliable data on the risk of papillary and nonpapillary cancer of the thyroid gland and on sex, age and geographic region as modifying factors of this risk.Many articles have been published describing the occurrence of thyroid cancer. They are based on the records of individual hospitals or on the aggregate experience of several institutions. Authors interested in this subject have used clinical, surgical or autopsy observations as material for analysis.
