The Way Ahead for Manufacturing Industry

Abstract
This paper outlines the decline in manufacturing industry in the UK over the past thirty years and pinpoints the main causes for the decline. The author puts forward his views on the prospects for improvement in manufacturing industry and the need for changes of attitude within the Government, the Civil Service, trades unions, universities, management and shareholders. The author then proposes some contributions which each of these groups can make towards the future survival and success of industry and concludes by urging the industrialists to take the initiative.
