Abstract
Two-photon Raman scattering via virtually excited biexcitons is observed in CdS for different scattering configurations and for different temperatures. A self-consistent evaluation procedure allows one to determine the dispersion curve of the -exciton polariton. The results are compared to those obtained by other methods, especially resonant Brillouin scattering. Second-order two-photon Raman scattering is reported for the first time.
