Abstract
One hundred college students were randomly assigned to 10 groups of 10 subjects each. Three groups were required to learn different nonsense syllable labels for similar light intensities to criteria of 9/12, 11/12, and 100% overlearning. Three other groups were given 3 corresponding amts. of experiences in seeing-and-discriminating among the intensities and 3 additional groups had 3 amts. of experiences in seeing stimuli. These 9 groups and a 10th group, the control with no prior exposure to the lights, were then given 48 trials to learn discriminative motor responses to the same intensities. With the exception of the significantly superior motor learning performance of the 100% over-learning group neither types nor amt. of premotor experiences with the intensities either singly or in combinations led to significant differences in motor learning achievements. Keywords
