Correlates of Romantic Love Revisited

Abstract
Previous research suggests a relationship between internal/external locus of control and attitudes about love. In conjunction with this research an investigation was completed with college (n = 92) and high school (n = 234) educated samples of single and married men and women to further assess the finding that internals are less romantic idealists than externals across various stages of the life cycle. The data from the two independently drawn samples on the Valecha-Ostrom measure of locus of control and three separate scales measuring romantic and conjugal love attitudes suggest that locus of control is predictive of differential love attitudes for single Ss only.
