Abstract
Groups of golden hamsters run in a hoarding apparatus under day and night conditions showed much higher rates of hoarding at night. Illumination of the food bin increased hoarding of both the day and night variety. Hamsters hoard, on the basis of comparative body weight, at least four times as much as the albino rat. Theoretical explanations are discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
