Abstract
The buildup and decay of the sound-wave gratings in stimulated-Brillouin-scattering cells were calculated taking into account the spatial dependence in the propagation direction of the focused laser beams. The incident intensities were varied up to the saturation values. The influence of the different parameters such as focal length, cell length, pulse duration, and phonon lifetime is discussed. Keywords
