FERROMAGNETIC DOMAIN PATTERNS ON SINGLE CRYSTALS AND BICRYSTALS OF NICKEL

Abstract
Ferromagnetic domain patterns were studied on the (110), (112), and (001) planes of single crystals of nickel. The crystals were grown from seeds of predetermined orientation and no mechanical cutting was required prior to the observation of the domain patterns. The results are compared with data in the literature, existing discrepancies are pointed out and interpreted. The influence of grain boundaries on the domain patterns is shown in experiments with bicrystals.
