Abstract
An analytic atomic independent particle model adjusted to experimental single-particle energy levels is used to generate wave functions for the valence and excited states of N II. Using these wave functions in conjunction with the Born approximation and the Russell-Saunders LS-coupling scheme, we calculate optical oscillator strengths for various transitions from the 2p2(3p0) ground state of N II. The results are compared with available experimental data and other calculations. Keywords
