Abstract
The parity-conserving reaction ½+1 → ½+0 (½ denoting a particle of spin ½, etc.) is completely described in terms of its six invariant amplitudes. All observables are listed, both for the case when the product of the four intrinsic parities is positive and for the case when this product is negative. The subclass structure of these observables is given. The specific example of the reaction is examined and consequences of the experimentally found relationship between polarization and asymmetry are derived. Specific further experiments are listed which could continue to narrow down the uncertainty in our knowledge of the form factors. Experiments determining the product of the four intrinsic parities are also discussed. All proposed experiments are within reach of present-day experimental techniques.
