The complexes cpTiCl2, bipy, cpTiCl2,phm, cpTiCl2,2py, and cpTiCl2,2pic (bipy = bipyridyl, phm = o-phenylenediamine, py = pyridine, pic = α-picolylamine, cp = π-cyclopentadienyl) have been prepared by allowing the appropriate nitrogen base to react with cpTiCl2. Spectroscopic, magnetic, and conductivity data are consistent with either non-ionic, six-coordinate dimeric species with pseudooctahedral symmetry or five-coordinate monomeric species. A complex of the type cpTiCl2,1.5en (en = ethylenediamine) was also formed. Possible structures are discussed.
