Abstract
Antibody responses were studied when comparable pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus antigens, one in saline suspension and the other containing a mineral carrier, were given to two similar groups of infants. While antibody responses to tetanus and diphtheria were similar in the two groups, half of the infants given the saline antigen failed to produce titers of pertussis agglutinin. Delaying the third injection until 4 or 5 months after the second produced a higher mean response to all 3 constituents. Keywords
