Abstract
Using the formulation of coherence theory as introduced by Wolf, the diffraction of partially coherent light is discussed. The mutual coherence function and the intensity distribution are computed for a plane slit illuminated by coherent, partially coherent and incoherent light. The results are plotted and discussed. Keywords
