Abstract
Observations made on Thyone briareus, Strongylocentrotus dro-bachiensis, Arbacia punctulata, Asterias forbesii, A. vulgaris and A. gladalis show that the maturated eggs lose capacity for fertilization and develop a tendency to form filaments. Fol''s and Chambers'' work was done on stale eggs. Critic of the conclusions of their work. The author believes that "the formation of an attraction cone, i.e., an elevation of the egg cortex before sperm attachment is extremely doubtful.".
