Abstract
Phosphate solubility is least near the neutral point; within the pH range corresponding to the probable range at field moisture, it appears to be closely related to plant-available P; within the slightly acid range it is closely correlated with solubility in the highly alkaline range for soils of similar composition; within the probable range of pH at field moisture it is correlated with the degree of colloid saturation as estimated by methods similar to that of Burd and Murphy.[long dash]The data (i) afford an estimate of whether crops will respond to fertilizer on the soils studied, (ii) indicate the general type of extractants suitable for quick tests of phosphate availability, and (iii) offer a possible means of estimating the amt. of phosphate from fertilizer applications which will be adsorbed by the soil in a form not readily available to plants. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
