Abstract
Goldberger attempted to explain the interaction of high energy nucleons (∼90 Mev) with heavy nuclei on the basis of a nucleonic cascade in a nucleon Fermi gas. The experimental test of this model was indecisive. In order to check the model at the higher energies available at the Nevis cyclotron, the interactions of 300-400 Mev protons and neutrons with the G-5 emulsion nuclei were analyzed. The experimental results are given and general evidence for the nucleonic cascade mechanism is presented. Keywords
