Abstract
The survey covered 1,604 children in 1943 and 1,293 in 1929. In 1943, 19% of the children had teeth of perfect or nearly perfect structure as compared with only 8% in 1929. The incidence of very defectively formed teeth (much M-hypo-plasia) fell from 58% in 1929 to 33% in 1943, while in the latter yr. 22% were caries-free as against 5% in 1929. The introduction of cheap milk, increased allowances of milk, cod-liver oil and fruit juices to pregnant and lactating women, to infants and young children, the addition of vits. A and D2 to margarine, and of CaCO3 to bread, are all considered as dietary factors contributing to this improvement. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
