Dissipative flow ofHe4films near the superfluid transition

Abstract
Measurements of the thermal conductance of He4 films near the superfluid transition indicate nonlinear behavior below Tc, as well as above Tc, for sufficiently large velocities. Below Tc the behavior is characterized by an exponential dependence on film velocity. This suggests that, for our experiment, depinning is the dominant mechanism for free-vortex generation.
