Abstract
This catastrophic intra-abdominal sequela of thrombosis or vasospasm occurs predominantly in the geriatric patient. Physician alertness to both the risk factors and premonitory signs is critical if the prompt intervention required to save the patient's life is to be feasible. One of the key elements in an aggressive approach to the management of acute mesenteric ischemia is the earlier use of angiography.
