Abstract
The different processes involved during the formation of spark discharges in hydrogen have been studied by the use of a spectrophotographic method. The voltage collapse across the gap during what is described as the second glow phase has been computed for a simple model, and good agreement between this and experimental results was found over a wide range of the experimental conditions. Keywords
