Abstract
The author has made an attempt to discover the reasons underlying the slow contraction and prolonged excitation time of muscle in subjects with nerve lesions. The muscles most commonly used were the extensor carpi radialis and the tibialis anticus. When the denervated muscles were subjected to an electrical current, repetitive excitation may occur even when the current strengths are of threshold value. The relation of the muscle fibers to the field of the current, repetitive stimulation were found responsible for the prolonged excitation time. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
