Abstract
Fluorescence and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in the ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrum, are increasingly being investigated for breast cancer diagnosis. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 This technology is cost-effective, and can be deployed through fiber optic probes to quickly, nondestructively, and quantitatively detect the structural, physiological, and biochemical changes that are associated with the progression of disease. Several studies have demonstrated that there are significant differences in the fluorescence 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and diffuse reflectance 4, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 spectra of normal, benign, and malignant breast tissues, which could be used for the diagnosis of breast malignancy.Keywords
