Simulations of Bose fields at finite temperature
Abstract
We introduce a projected Gross-Pitaevskii equation to describe the dynamics of a partially condensed homogeneous Bose gas at finite temperature. The equilibrium properties are determined, and compared to the results of a gapless, second order theory of Bose-Einstein condensation [S. A. Morgan, J. Phys. B {\bf 33}, 3847 (2000)]. We present compelling evidence that when all relevant modes are highly occupied, the Gross-Pitaevskii equation gives an accurate description of a Bose gas above and below the critical temperature. Keywords
