AN UNUSUAL CASE OF CUTANEOUS PLASMACYTOSIS

Abstract
A seventy‐five year old man has had numerous papules over his entire body for about 50 years without any systemic involvement. Histological examination revealed that many plasma cells and a few lymphoid cells had infiltrated into the dermis. The plasma cells did not show any atypia. Laboratory examinations, including Bence‐Jones' protein, serum gammaglobulin, and immunoglobulins, demonstrated no abnormal findings. We consider this case not to be a true tumor but rather a benign reactive proliferation of plasma cells in the skin, although its etiology is unclear.
