Abstract
In principle, the art of preparing metallographic specimens with abrasives has not altered for more than 50 years. In 1956, vibratory polishing, which was then in its infancy, was introduced to the field of metallography. Since that time much effort has been expended toward the development of this new mode of polishing. Vibratory polishing has proved its worth in the metallography laboratory and has many inherent advantages that could be a real asset te remote metallographic facilities. (auth)Keywords
