Abstract
The intensities of twenty emissions in the blue spectral region are obtained from photoelectric scans and spectrograms taken at the brightest part of each nebula. The electron temperature, electron density, and the helium and oxygen abundances are derived. The ratio of helium to hydrogen in the 30 Doradus Nebula may be slightly less than in diffuse nebulae in the Galaxy, although the difference is not greater than 40 per cent. There appear to be no gross differences between the oxygen abundances in the two systems. Scans at lower resolution have been obtained at seven additional regions in each nebula, and the distribution of electron temperature and excitation is discussed. Keywords
