Abstract
An understanding of lipoprotein metabolism in diabetes is essential because dyslipidemia contributes to the atherosclerotic process in diabetic individuals. Current work has centered on elucidating the compositional changes and apolipoprotein alterations of plasma lipoproteins that occur in diabetic individuals. Studies of the mechanisms responsible for the altered concentrations and composition are reviewed. There is an urgent need for more studies of therapeutic approaches to diabetic dyslipidemia. Keywords
