Abstract

Mesenteric lymph node cells (MLNC) obtained from immunized donors caused the expulsion of transplanted damaged worms of Nippostrongylus brasiliensis or adult worms developed from larval infection in both irradiated (400 r) or non-irradiated syngeneic recipients (DA rats). On the other hand, MLNC obtained from unimmunized donors failed to affect the parasite. This latter finding contrasts with the results of a study reported by Keller and Keist who showed that MLNC obtained from uninfected, peptone-treated donors caused the expulsion of transplanted damaged worms in irradiated recipients. In the present study, peptone treatment of uninfected (non-immune) donors did not enhance the immunological reactivity of the transferred lymphocytes.
