Abstract
Techniques are described for efficiently producing thousands of soft ticks for experimental use. A general method is described for each of the following feeding categories: (1) small species with short-term-feeding larvae ( Ornithodoros turicata, O. parkeri, O. erraticus ); (2) small species with long-term-feeding larvae ( O. puertoricensis, O. dugesi ); and (3) large species with long-term-feeding larvae ( O. coriaceus ). Apparatus used for tick feeding and containment are described in detail, as are special conditions required by the Ornithodoros spp. listed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
