The Nature of Developmental Stages

Abstract
A theoretical analysis of the nature of childhood developmental stages was presented. A formal model of the relationship of knowing was outlined from which developmental stages, egocentrism and vertical decalage were derived. A number of implications of the model for the nature of developmental stages were discussed, and it was noted that these implications show several important divergences from Piaget. The underlying model of knowing was illustrated, primarily with respect to imagery.
