Abstract
Calculations have been made of activation energies for vacancy pair movements in NaCl and KCl using the approximation of a static lattice. The numerical results indicate that these energies are comparable with or greater than the activation energies for single vacancy movement. Qualitative reasons ere given showing why this should be so.Keywords
