Abstract
Observations of ureteral peristalsis were made on 3 trained unoperated and unanesthetized dogs for periods up to 100 mins. Peristaltic activity was detd. by cystoscopic examination of the spurts of intramusc. injected indigo carmine entering the urinary bladder. Counts were made for 1 or 2-min. periods, followed by a 2-min. rest period. The animals had been without food for 24 hrs. but had free access to water up to the time of the expt. Peristaltic activity was quite constant in any animal on any particular day. Intraven. pentobarbital Na (nembutal) in a small series of expts. usually reduced the peristaltic activity of the ureters. Keywords
