Abstract
The ionophoretic behavior of glycine, glycylglycine, diglycylglycine and triglycylglycine has been studied at pH 9.2 in the presence and absence of a fixed concentration of free cupric ion. The behavior of the cupric complexes of the first three compounds mentioned is consistent with that to be expected from the schemes of reaction and equilibrium constants given by Dobbie and Kermack (1955a, b) and by Dobbie et al. (1955). The observations made are discussed in relation to the literature on the cupric complexes of amino acids and peptides. They suggest the basis for a group separation of dipeptides from higher oligopeptides. Keywords
