Abstract
Experimental research in the field has shown that the decomposition and accumulation processes of litter do not follow a course that could be represented by an exponential function. Possibly an exponential function holds for a part of the components of the leaves, e.g. the lower carbohydrates. Even so, the summation of a number of such exponentially expressible processes gives a result that cannot be represented by such an exponential function. Experimental results of decomposition show a curve that corresponds in shape with that constructed by summation of a number of exponential functions. Keywords
