Compensation of the Paramagnetic Effect on $H_{c 2}$ by Magnetic Impurities

Abstract

We find an anomalous behavior of the upper critical field for the superconducting system

{Mo}_{1 - x} {Mn}_{x} {Ga}_{4}

. It is suggested that this is due to the compensation of the paramagnetic term in the Hamiltonian,

- g μ_{B} \vec{H} \cdot \vec{σ}

, by a negative exchange interaction

c J (\vec{S} \cdot \vec{σ})

.
