Abstract
Axial CO2laser radiation has been shown to have a significant influence in modifying the deposition of silicon dioxide in the modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) fiber preform process. Experiments on soot deposition with a stationary burner have shown a doubling of both the rate of deposition and the deposition efficiency. Keywords
