Velocity dependence of absolute cross sections for charge capture byAr7+from ground-state and excited-state sodium

A charge-transfer experiment has been done in which ${\mathrm{Ar}}^{7+}$ was incident on sodium in the ground state and first excited state. Absolute capture cross sections were determined for projectile velocities in the range of 0.1–1.0 a.u. The experimental findings are compared with the results of semiclassical calculations.
