Abstract
Fe‐EDTA suppressed nodulation almost completely in pea plants growing in a N‐free nutrient solution. The formation of lateral roots was also reduced, but the effect was less severe in comparison with nodulation. Pretreatment of the roots with Fe‐EDTA had no effect on nodulation. Infection of the root hairs took place in the presence of Fe‐EDTA. A sensitive step, 3–6 days after inoculation was detected. Keywords
