Abstract
The differential and total elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections of the carbon atom have been estimated theoretically with a more realistic charge distribution for the electrons in the K and L shells. The agreement of the several experimental results with the present theoretical calculation is much better than with the existing theories of Lenz and Leisegang. For scattering by polystyrene latex particles, addition of the contribution of the hydrogen atoms in these particles results in an improvement of the agreement between theory and experiment. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
