Abstract
The higher prevalence of certain diseases among women suggests involvement of genetic mechanisms linked to the sex chromosomes or of sex-limited gene expression that may be developmentally or hormonally regulated. Analysis of genetic markers and gene expression patterns provides the means for testing hypotheses related to these mechanisms. Keywords
