Abstract
A system containing ovolecithin solubilized with sodium deoxycholate in a glycylglycine-buffered medium is described that is suitable for the estimation of pancreatic phospholipase A. Phospholipase A has been shown to occur in fresh or aged frozen human pancreas. The tissue requires special treatment to render the enzyme fully water-soluble. A relatively simple and rapid method for the purification of phospholipase A from human pancreas is described. Some of the properties of the pancreatic enzyme have been investigated, including heat-stability, pH optimum and the effect of certain inhibitors. Keywords
