Abstract
A neutral hydrogen cloud with a velocity of −447 km s−1 relative to the local standard of rest has been discovered near the direction of the Andromeda nebula (M31). Observations with the Mark IA radio telescope (beamwidth 0°.22 × 0°.22) show that its half-power dimensions are 0°.40 × 0°.36; it is situated approximately 1°.5 deg NW of the center of M31. Two alternative theories of the origin of this cloud are discussed. Keywords
